Since 2012, the company has notably developed a particular expertise in digital broadcast, so much so that one of Echo Media’s Youtube channels ranks among the top 10 channels viewed in Canada.
This new sector of activity has been rapidly growing since 2012 and the company intends to continue its investment over the next few years in order to promote the growth and reach of this content at an International level.
A long-standing partner to all the French and English television markets in Canada, Echo Media stands out with such undeniable hits as the critically acclaimed and award-winning series 19-2 and Toopy and Binoo; and a variety of major live events and distinguished documentaries, among other genres. Echo Media’s productions are sold and broadcast in over 175 countries. The company also leads many projects with the United States and in official co-production with France, Germany, Belgium, Israel and Japan.
The company’s productions have distinguished themselves on numerous occasions, both in Quebec and abroad. A multitude of programs created by Echo Media have been awarded innumerable prizes and distinctions, most notably from the Gémeaux, Gemini, Félix, Oliviers, Rose d’Or de Montreux, International Emmy and Prime Time Emmy awards.
Echo Media also owns a rich catalogue of television shows produced since 1980. Much of this content has met with great success and whose value with the audience has not depreciated, even after it has been on-air for many years. This programming still holds a significant commercial potential over the long term.
The company was previously owned by l’Équipe Spectra’s shareholders; amongst them was the company’s current President, Luc Châtelain. In 2010, Châtelain bought out the shares held by his associates and became the sole owner. Today, Echo Media still maintains a working relationship with L’Équipe Spectra.
